VAP Scholarships

The Virginia Africa Partnership Youth Leadership and STEM Scholarship recognizes and rewards high school seniors who have demonstrated a passion for academic success throughout their high school term.  It also aims at inspiring more youth , mainly girls and low income students to pursue  education  and careers in the promising field of STEAM ( (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) which has the potential to provide pathways to socio economic mobility.  Over the past two years, the Virginia Africa Partnership (VAP) has awarded more than 10  scholarships to deserving  students, helping them advance academically.

The VAP Leadership and STEAM Award Ceremony is scheduled to take place on:

May 24th 2025, 2pm – 5pm Metropolitan Richmond Main Library 101 E Franklin St, Richmond, VA 23219

Gala STEAM Scholarship

The Banquet STEAM Scholarship Dinner, is a key fundraising event that supports the growth of our Youth STEAM Scholarship Program. The 2025  Gala  is scheduled for April 19, 2025, at TownePlace Suites Potomac Mills By Marriott, 14090 Shoppers Best Way Woodbridge, VA 22192.

Eligibility Criteria

  •  Be currently enrolled as a high school senior.
  • Have applied to, and either been accepted or anticipate acceptance to, an accredited college with a STEAM program.
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Demonstrate involvement in community service, including activities such as church initiatives, volunteering at food banks, peer tutoring, coaching, assisting at animal shelters, participating in school teams, or engaging in individual volunteer work.

All nomination applications must be submitted by April 30, 2025.
